cookie fail.

Well, the results are in, and your favorite food blogger came in a sad third place in the much-anticipated cookie-off. Now, now...simmer down... I know this is a big disappointment. But after my colossal macaroon failure Sunday night, I didnt really expect to win.  The "gold medal truffle bombs" were an admirable effort, and I thought, super rich and delicious enough to possibly win (especially with the gold luster dust-- who could resist that?!)-- but I wasn't counting on anything.

Plus, the guy in the office who you would least expect made a SURPRISE ATTACK with a batch of sugar lime cookies! They were delicious-- crumbly, grainy texture, and a fantastic salty/sweet flavor-- I even voted for them as second best (after mine, of course). How could this be? A computer programmer who bakes? Such delicate flavors from the guy who eats fritos by the case? I couldn't--wouldn't--believe it was true.

And sure enough... turns out his girlfriend made them. Figures. If I had known my boyfriend Jamie Oliver could have baked for me, I would have a second trophy on my desk right now.

All I can do now is spend the next month preparing for Iron Chef Battle part III, sharpening my knives in front of a recipe for sugar lime cookies.
