
Figs!
Figs season is starting, which can mean only one thing: I draw a blank trying to figure out what to do with them.
I get very inspired seeing figs appear for only a few short weeks in september, so I buy them and... they sit in my fridge, staring back at me, tauntingly, until they wither in shame from disuse.
But THIS year, no figs will hang his pointy head in shame in MY fridge. Nay, I will make sauces and tarts, desserts and anitpasti, jam and... I really dont know what to do with them, to tell you the truth my many, many readers. I remember having roasted figs with marscarpone as a dessert once... I'd love to try a fig tart, but knowing myself, thats probably a bit ambitious... and seeing as how expensive they are by the pint i probably wont be making batches of jam.
Possibilities: prosciutto wrapped figs-- a no brainer. Savory fig compote? sounds doable. A fig tartlet? Well, we'll see if the fichi and I can bury the hatchet.
