Oh my heavens, it's Champagne Thursday!

Champagne Thursday, or "Thursday", as the rest of the world calls it, could not have come any sooner this week. I dont know what it is, but I have been in quite a funk lately: a cooking funk, an exercise funk and a work funk. If you haven't guessed, this will be an extremely lame version of Champagne Thursday, probably the kind where I put on my Thanksgiving Pants, pop some bubbly, and catch up on Dancing With the Stars with my dog (and then have confusing dreams about Tom DeLay).
Ok, maybe all this funkiness really is just a work funk, but when it starts to affect what I cook, I know something has to be done. My cooking has ranged from uninspired to nonexistent lately. The most exciting item in my fridge is currently string cheese. My coworkers are beginning to wonder about my mustard sandwich lunches.
Which is why I think its time for a little cooking bootcamp this weekend-- maybe some farmers markets, an overly ambitious dinner, or even another crack at making ice cream is the culinary kick in the pants I need. And then, Sunday I'm off for my whirlwind gastro tour of New York!* I will be brushing up on my blogs so as to be prepared if a foodie corners me in the street and demands to know the quickest route to pork belly.

*This is not the "real" reason for my trip, but don't tell anyone about my fiendish plans.
